Architectural fountains,
vanishing edges, testable.

Most general pool contractors label custom water features "untestable" and quote you a replacement. We test them. Thirty-five years of Florida feature work, including theme park attractions, luxury resorts, and residential infinity pools.

Feature Types We Service

Six categories of
custom water features.

Every custom water feature has unique plumbing, distinct failure patterns, and specific diagnostic approaches. Our specialist crew has worked on all six types across residential, commercial, and hospitality properties.

Architectural fountains

Tiered fountains, formal reflecting pools, sculptural water features. Dedicated plumbing circuits with unique pump and return configurations.

Sheer-descents

Wall-mounted rectangular water sheets. Common at resorts and modern homes. Sheet integrity, header feed lines, and mounting substrate are all potential failure points.

Vanishing edges

Infinity pools with catch basins below the pool's overflow edge. Trough cracks, return-to-pool plumbing, and catch basin integrity each need separate diagnostic work.

Deck jets

Arcing water streams from deck-mounted jets. Clogs and seal failures create misleading symptoms. Each jet tests as an independent plumbing circuit.

Bubblers

Low-profile water bubble fountains, usually set into sun shelves or beach-entry areas. Cartridge and diffuser failures are common; shell cracks underneath are rare but serious.

Waterfalls

Rock waterfalls, natural-style grotto features, and formal waterwall installations. Feeder lines, diverter valves, and distribution manifolds are frequent leak sources.

Why General Contractors Miss These

Feature plumbing isn't
standard pool plumbing.

Most pool companies diagnose by testing the main pool's suction and return circuits. Water features have their own circuits that need independent testing — and most companies simply don't have the equipment or training for that work.

What specialist feature work actually involves.

  • Independent circuit isolation: Every feature gets its own plumbing circuit tested separately from the main pool. Mixing them produces useless data.
  • Pressure-specific testing: Features operate at different pressures than main pool circulation. Testing at main-pool pressure won't reveal feature-specific leaks.
  • Acoustic underground work: Feature feed lines often run 30+ feet to remote pump locations. Electronic listening pinpoints underground failures to within inches.
  • Sheet integrity inspection: Sheer-descent and waterfall failures often occur at the dispersion hardware, not in the feed plumbing. Requires disassembly-level inspection.
  • Catch-basin and trough assessment: Vanishing edges have hidden water reservoirs behind the edge. Structural cracks there are invisible from the pool side.
  • Written feature-specific report: Our report maps each feature's circuit, documents test results, and identifies leak sources with photographic evidence.
What to Expect

Feature diagnostics
are more involved than standard.

Expect 2.5–4 hours on site for a comprehensive feature-system diagnostic. More features = more time. Here's the workflow.

1

System mapping

Feature circuits identified, plumbing routes traced, operational modes documented. Essential baseline.

2

Isolated testing

Each feature circuit tested separately — pressure, dye, and acoustic — to isolate where the leak occurs.

3

Hardware inspection

Sheer-descent hardware, vanishing edge trough, waterfall distribution manifold inspected where relevant.

4

Written finding

Specific source identified with photographic evidence, repair scope, cost estimate, and warranty terms.

Typical feature repair cost ranges

Architectural fountain: $650–$3,500 depending on complexity.
Sheer-descent: $850–$2,800 most often at hardware.
Vanishing-edge trough: $1,200–$4,500 for underwater trough injection.
Deck jet / bubbler: $450–$1,800 typically replacement-grade.
Waterfall feeder line: $800–$2,400 for underground pinpoint excavation.

Common Questions

Feature leak questions,
answered.

Can you really test features my prior contractor said were untestable?
Yes, almost always. The "untestable" label usually means the prior contractor didn't have the equipment or experience to isolate each feature circuit. Our specialist crew tests features ranging from simple deck jets to 22-inch-long vanishing-edge troughs. The rare true untestable situation is one where a feature has no isolation valves — which we can often add to the plumbing at a modest cost to enable future testing.
Does the feature have to be drained?
No, for most feature work. Our underwater crack injection technique works on shell cracks in vanishing-edge troughs and waterfall basins while the feature stays full and operational. Hardware repairs (sheer-descent manifolds, deck jet cartridges) require the feature off temporarily, but not drained.
How is feature work priced vs. standard pool work?
Feature diagnostics run $550–$1,200 (vs. $350–$650 for a standard pool diagnostic) because the work is more involved. Multi-feature properties are quoted as a scoped engagement rather than a flat-rate visit. Repair pricing depends on the specific feature and failure.
Will you work on commercial feature systems?
Yes — it's a significant part of our business. Resort vanishing-edge pools, theme park water features, luxury hotel architectural fountains. NDA coverage is standard for commercial feature engagements. Our case studies include redacted examples.
What warranty do feature repairs carry?
Same structure as our standard warranties: 60 days on detection, 2 years on minor feature repair (hardware, fittings), 3 years on major feature repair (underwater injection, structural work). In writing, with the repair invoice. See our warranty page for full terms.
